TAMKO was officially founded on September 5, 1944 by E.L. and Mary Ethel Craig. They named their company TAMKO after the first letters of the states they believed would be their sales territory, namely, Texas, Arkansas, Missouri, Kansas and Oklahoma. TAMKO started from one small location in southwest Missouri into one of the country’s largest roofing manufacturers over the next 75 years.
